The Bank of Elmwood in Racine has failed to submit “an acceptable capital restoration plan” to the Federal Reserve System and now faces an Aug. 29 deadline to take corrective actions, including raising more capital or selling or merging the bank.

SunTrust Banks Inc. will raise $1.4 billion through a stock offering in an effort to meet federal requirements for the bank to add capital. (STI)
